For the issue of a hunting license, the following supporting documents are required:

For the renewal of hunting license

1. Application to the competent for granting of hunting license
2. Insurance contract (Group or Individual) for coverage of any damage to caused during the hunting
3. Triplicate or payment voucher of hunting dues in favor of Central Fund for Agriculture- cattle breeding and forests (Hunting division)
4. Statutory declaration of L. 1599/86 declaring that, the person concern has not been convicted for violations of "hunting law provisions" and is not pending any respective criminal procedure against it.

For new hunters

In addition to the above, the following are required:

1. License for possession of shotgun or certification from the Police authority of the place of residence of the person concern that, the conditions provided for the possession of a shotgun are fulfilled.
2. Two recent non used photos of identity card type.
3. Certification of skills valuation committee for new hunters, attesting that, they have successfully passed the respective tests.

In case of revocation of the license for possession of a shotgun from the competent hunting authority, the hunting license is immediately revoked.

For European Union nationals, fellow countrymen and foreigners residing for over 15 years in Greece, diplomatic servants, the following are required for hunting activity:

1. Hunting license
2. License for possession of shotgun or certification from the Police authority of the place of residence of the person concern that, the conditions provided for the possession of a shotgun are fulfilled.
3. Insurance contract (Group or individual) for coverage of any damage to caused during the hunting
4. Triplicate or payment voucher of hunting dues in favor of Central Fund for Agriculture-cattle breeding and Forests (Hunting division)
5. Statutory declaration of L. 1599/86 declaring that. The person concern has not been convicted for violations of "hunting law provisions" and is not pending any respective criminal procedure against it.
6. Statutory declaration of L. 1599/86 for the place of temporal residence.

The said supporting documents are submitted to the competent Forestall authority (Forest inspection of Forests Directorate).

The hunting license, the license for possession a shotgun and the insurance contract which the national of the state member of European Union, the fellow countrymen, the foreigners residing for over 15 years in Greece and the diplomatic servants, which have been issued in the country of their origin, are been accepted by the forestall authorities, which when they deem it necessary may ask to be submitted duly translated in the Greek language.

In case they wish to issue the initial license in Greece, they must submit, besides the above documents, the additional ones a) two recent non- used photos of identity card type and b) Certification of skills valuation committee for new hunters, attesting that, they have successfully passed the respective tests.

With regards the certification of foreign national (outside E.U.) that reside in Greece for a period of time less than 15 years or are visiting Greece for hunting

These hunters may hunt only within the controlled hunting areas, Public or Private.

The documents required for the issue of hunting license are the following:

1. Application to the competent forestall authority
2. Two recent photos
3. Triplicate or payment voucher of hunting dues in favor of Central Fund for Agriculture- cattle breeding and Forests (Hunting division)
4. Original hunting license in force in its country or a duly certified photocopy of it.
5. Evidence with regards the insurance coverage of the person concern in case of hunting accident in our country (insurance contract or certification of the insurance company or recordation of the insurance contract number in the hunting license).

As far as concern the Public controlled hunting areas, the necessary general hunting license is issued from the forestall authority to which is subject the controlled hunting area.

A special hunting license is required for each controlled hunting area, the dues of which are determined with its annual schedule, pursuant to the provisions of art. 3 of P.D. 453/ 1977 in conjunction with those of P.D. 332/ 1983 and P.D. 94/1993 and L. 2240/94 and L.2503/97, further to a decision of the Secretary General of the respective district.

As far as concern the private controlled hunting areas, the general hunting license is issued by the local forestall authority and is in force for the whole of the hunting period.
