The Turtle Dove is 27cm long and is a small bodied species of pigeon with black and white characteristic patterns on its throat (not found in the young), spots on its wings and a black and white tail. An indigenous species, it come to Greece in April, breeds and leaves in September to overwinter in warmer countries. It can be seen in pairs or small flocks.
