At 25cm in length, the male is completely black with a yellow beak and black legs, whilst the female and young are generally dark brown and have a lighter coloured breast. Blackbirds are usually found in pairs. The Blackbird sings beautifully whilst perched in a high place, such as a branch, rock or building. It is an indigenous species, but in winter, the population increases significantly./p>
