Πετροκούναβο

The Beech marten is 40-48cm in length, its tail is 23-25cm long and it weighs 1.3-2.3kg. Its body is long and its legs short. It has a short triangular head, short triangular ears and a long neck. Its tail is long and fluffy, its coat is light coloured or dark brown with greyish white down. The head is a lighter colour.

The Beech marten is distinguished by white marking on the front of the neck which extends to the chest and the upper half of the front legs. It is a nocturnal species and is found all over mainland Greece and the islands. It feeds on mice, moles, squirrels, lizards, snakes, amphibians, eggs and land birds. .
